Custom websites

Answers to the questions I hear most about custom, hand-coded websites: how they're built, what they cost, who owns them and what happens after launch.

What is a custom-coded website?

A custom-coded website is written by hand in HTML, CSS and JavaScript instead of being assembled from a theme or page builder. I build on the Next.js and React framework when a site needs it. There's no WordPress theme, no page-builder plugins and no Wix, Squarespace or GoDaddy builder template underneath.

Why choose custom code over a website builder?

Custom code gives you a site that looks like your business, loads lighter and gives full control over structure and SEO. Builders and themes were inexpensive and easy, and they made sense for years. Their limits now are look-alike designs, plugin bloat that slows pages, limited control over schema and ongoing security updates.

How much does a custom website cost?

Every site is quoted to the project. The price depends on the number of pages, whether you need service-area pages, a blog or newsletter, and how much ongoing care you want. Call or text 480-550-2871 for a no-obligation conversation, and I'll give you a clear quote after we talk.

Do I own my website and domain?

Yes. You own your domain and your content, including the words and photos on your pages. I build the site and can care for it over time, but your business name online belongs to you. If you ever decide to move, it's yours to move.

Who builds my website?

I do, personally. Custom Coded Websites by Teigh is a one-woman, woman-owned business based in Surprise, Arizona. There's no hand-off to a team or an outside developer, so the person you talk to on the first call is the person who writes the code and makes every update.

What is a Phase 1 launch?

A Phase 1 launch is a complete first version of your site, with your core pages finished, that goes live quickly. Rather than waiting months for every detail, your site starts working for you and getting found sooner. After launch, we refine and add to it together.

Do you write the content for my website?

Yes, if you'd like. When you don't supply content, I gather your business information, services, service areas, competitor details, history and photos, then write the pages. You review everything, and content can be changed after launch. I can also run blogs and monthly newsletters that publish automatically on a schedule.

How fast will my website be?

Hand-coded sites start light because they don't carry theme and plugin code they don't use, and mine deploy to a global edge hosting network with automatic HTTPS. Google's good Core Web Vitals thresholds are LCP within 2.5 seconds, INP within 200 milliseconds and CLS of 0.1 or less, per web.dev, and I build with those targets in mind.

What is included in every page you build?

Every page answers its main question up front, then follows with FAQs. Behind the scenes, each page includes schema.org structured data (JSON-LD), which tells search engines what your business is and does, plus clean URLs. Every site also gets an XML sitemap and an llms.txt file for AI crawlers.

What happens after my website launches?

We refine it together. You'll have changes and ideas once it's live, and I make them. From there I offer ongoing care, including updates, new pages, scheduled blogs and newsletters, and Google Business Profile management. My Internet Optimization Plan bundles that ongoing work into one plan.

SEO, AEO and AI search

Plain-English answers about being found: search engine optimization, answer engine optimization, AI search and your Google Business Profile. No guarantees, just what improves your odds.

What is SEO?

SEO, or search engine optimization, is the work of making your website easy for search engines to find, understand and show to the right people. It covers clear page content, fast loading, clean structure, structured data, local listings and links from other sites. Good SEO improves your odds of showing up, but no one can honestly guarantee rankings.

What is AEO?

AEO, or answer engine optimization, means structuring your content so answer engines, such as AI assistants and search answer boxes, can understand it and quote it. In practice, each page answers its main question directly at the top, then covers follow-up questions in FAQs, with structured data that describes your business clearly.

How is AEO different from SEO?

SEO aims to get your pages listed in search results; AEO aims to get your answers quoted directly. They overlap heavily. Both depend on clear, helpful, well-structured content. AEO puts extra weight on short, direct answers that a person or an AI tool can lift and repeat accurately.

How do I show up in Google's AI Overviews?

Google says there are no additional requirements or special optimizations needed to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode; a page must be indexed and eligible to show with a snippet, per Google Search Central. Regular SEO best practices still apply, and inclusion isn't guaranteed.

Do I need special schema or AI files for AI search?

Not for Google. Google states no special schema.org markup or AI text files are required for its AI features, per Google Search Central. I still add structured data because it describes your business clearly, and I include an llms.txt file as a simple extra for other AI crawlers, without promising it changes results.

Can you guarantee page 1 rankings or AI citations?

No, and you should be careful with anyone who does. Search engines and AI tools decide what to show, and they change often. What I can do is build the things that improve your odds: fast pages, direct answers, structured data, local pages, a well-kept Google Business Profile and consistent listings.

What is a Google Business Profile?

A Google Business Profile is your free business listing on Google Search and Maps, showing your hours, phone number, services, photos and reviews. It's often the first thing local customers see. I set up, manage and optimize profiles, including posts, photos, services and review responses.

How does Google rank local businesses?

Google says local results are based mainly on relevance, distance and prominence, per its Business Profile help page. Relevance is how well your profile matches the search, distance is how far you are, and prominence reflects how well known you are, including reviews and your presence across the web.

What is local SEO?

Local SEO helps your business show up when people nearby search for what you do. It includes city and service-area pages on your website, a complete Google Business Profile, and consistent citations, meaning your business name, address and phone number listed the same way across directories.

Do reviews help me get found?

Yes. Google lists review count and score as part of how it judges prominence for local results, per its Business Profile help page, and they help customers decide whether to call you. I offer reputation management, which means monitoring your reviews and responding to them thoughtfully, so people see an engaged, real business when they look you up.

Embroidery, screen printing and promotional products

Answers about custom embroidery, screen-printed apparel and branded promotional products. Embroidery is done in-house by me, and apparel and products are ordered through Logo Loco.

How much does custom embroidery cost?

Embroidery is $25 per item when you supply the apparel. If you'd like me to source the shirts, hats or jackets, I'll quote the apparel to your order, because prices vary by brand, style and quantity. Call or text 480-550-2871 to talk about what you need.

Who does the embroidery?

I do, personally, in-house. Loco Stitch is the embroidery side of my promotional products brand, Logo Loco, and every piece is personally made by T. I set up the design, help with placement and thread colors, run the machine and check the finished piece.

What items can you embroider?

Virtually anything that holds a stitch: shirts, polos, hats, jackets, hoodies, bags and more. I handle everything from a single custom piece to bulk orders for crews, uniforms and events. I can also source almost any apparel if you don't already have it.

What logo file do I need for embroidery or printing?

A vector file, such as AI, EPS, SVG or a vector PDF, is best, because it stays sharp at any size. A large, high-resolution PNG also works. For embroidery, I turn your artwork into a stitch file through a process called digitizing, and I can work from a rough image if that's all you have.

Should I choose embroidery or screen printing?

Choose embroidery for polos, hats and jackets where you want a textured, premium look. Choose screen printing for t-shirts and larger runs with bold designs in a few solid colors, since it uses one screen per color. Many businesses use both, and I'll recommend what fits your project.

How do I order screen-printed shirts?

Custom screen-printed t-shirts and apparel are ordered through Logo Loco at logoloco.co. You can also call or text me at 480-550-2871 with your design, quantity and colors. Each order is quoted to the project, since the number of shirts and colors affects the job.

What promotional products do you offer?

Through Logo Loco I offer branded pens, cups and mugs, pizza cutters, hats, bags and trade show kits like tents, banners and table covers. This site doesn't list products or prices, so visit logoloco.co to browse, or call or text me for help choosing what fits your customers.

Why pair branded products with a website?

Branded products keep your name in people's hands, and your website is where they go when they're ready to call. When your apparel, products and website share the same logo and colors, people recognize you instantly. I offer both, so it all looks like one business.

Let's build something that's yours.

Tell me about your business and what your website needs to do. Call or text any time, day or night. Every project is quoted to fit.
