The process at a glance
- Discovery call: we talk about your business, your customers and your goals.
- Plan: I map out the pages, the questions each one answers and how people will find you.
- Design: I create a look that fits your brand, not a template.
- Build: I hand-code the site, page by page.
- Phase 1 launch: your site goes live quickly so it can start working for you.
- Refine together: we review and improve it after launch.
- Ongoing care: updates, content and support for as long as you want them.
I do every step myself, so you have one person to talk to from the first call to the last update.
1. Discovery call
Everything starts with a conversation. You can call or text me at 480-550-2871, any time. I'll ask about what you do, who your customers are, where you work, what's working now and what isn't. If you already have a website, we'll look at it together.
There's no obligation. The goal is to understand your business well enough to recommend what will actually help, and to give you a quote. Every site is quoted to the project, because a three-page site for a new business and a full site with city pages, a blog and a newsletter are very different jobs.
2. Plan
Next, I plan the site. That means deciding which pages you need and what question each page answers. A page about your main service should tell someone what you do, where and how to reach you, right at the top. Then it answers the follow-up questions people ask.
This is where SEO and AEO start. SEO (search engine optimization) helps people find you in search results. AEO (answer engine optimization) structures your content so AI tools and answer boxes can understand and quote it. If you serve several cities, I'll plan service-area pages too.
3. Design and 4. build
I design the site around your brand: your colors, your logo, your photos and your voice. It won't look like a theme, because it isn't one.
Then I build it by hand, in HTML, CSS and JavaScript, using the Next.js and React framework when the site needs it. No WordPress theme, no page-builder plugins, no builder templates. Every page gets schema.org structured data (code that tells search engines exactly what your business is and does), clean URLs, an XML sitemap and an llms.txt file for AI crawlers. Sites deploy to a global edge hosting network with automatic HTTPS, which helps them load quickly wherever your visitors are. You can read more on my custom website design and website speed pages.
5. Phase 1 launch
I don't believe in holding a website back for months while every detail gets perfected. I launch a solid Phase 1 version quickly, with your core pages complete, so it can start working for you and search engines can start finding it.
Phase 1 is a real, finished website, not a placeholder. It's the starting point.
6. Refine together, then 7. ongoing care
After launch, we look at the site together. You'll notice things you want to change, customers will tell you things, and we'll add pages and details as your business grows. Content can be changed any time after launch.
From there, I can keep the site cared for: updates, new pages, scheduled blogs and monthly newsletters that publish automatically, plus Google Business Profile management, review responses and social media. My Internet Optimization Plan bundles that ongoing work together. See website care and hosting for details.
What I need from you
Less than you might think. Here's what helps:
- Your logo, in the best file you have. If you don't have one, we can talk about branding.
- Your services and service areas, the work you want more of and the places you go.
- Photos of your work, your team or your shop, if you have them.
- Access to your domain, or I can help you get one. You own your domain and your content.
- A little of your time for the discovery call and for reviewing the site.
If you don't have content written, that's fine. I'll gather your business information, services, service areas, competitor details, history and photos, then write the pages for you.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a custom website cost?
Every site is quoted to the project. The price depends on how many pages you need, whether you want city or service-area pages, a blog, a newsletter or ongoing care. The best first step is a no-obligation call or text to 480-550-2871, and I'll give you a clear quote after we talk.
What is a Phase 1 launch?
A Phase 1 launch is a complete, working first version of your website that goes live quickly, with your core pages finished. Instead of waiting months for every detail, your site starts working for you sooner. We then refine and add to it together after launch.
Do I have to write my own website content?
No. If you don't supply content, I gather your business information, services, service areas, competitor details, history and photos, then write the pages myself. You review everything, and content can be changed any time after launch, so nothing is set in stone.
Will I own my website and domain?
Yes. You own your domain and your content. I build and care for the site, but your business name online and the words and photos on your pages belong to you. If you ever want to move it, it's yours to move.
